I have packed up my darkroom and for now I only sell prints that are digitally printed. I use either an Epson 1280 printer with a dedicated black and white inkset (MIS UT2 inks) or with an Epson 4000 using RIP software. The inks I use are 100% carbon pigments and are "archival". The word archival is being hotly debated in the digital printing circles and seems to be a moving target. However, I am comfortable saying that my prints are good for 50 years, probably 100. By that i mean that if they are properly framed and kept out of direct sunlight that they will have minimal fade or color change over that time period. Digital prints are not as robust as traditional darkroom prints, so have to be handled more carefully. The term "Carbon on Cotton" is sometimes used to describe these type of digital prints.

What does a digital print look like? The prints I produce are MUCH better than anything I ever did in the darkroom (and I think I was a good printer) and when viewed when framed it is very difficult to tell the difference from a traditional fiber print.

I tend to print warm. I do not like the traditional cool to neutral print. I find that warm prints add a significant feel of depth to an image.
