Digital Prints from Original Paintings
Shadow Lynx Artworks currently offers two types digital prints from Nathalie’s original paintings:
1. “Reproduction” dye-based ink prints (Open Editions). Fade resistant for approximately 10-20 years if framed. Open edition prints can be ordered at any size
2. “Giclée” pigmented ink limited editions. Fade resistant for approximately 50-100 years if framed. Limited edtion prints are generally printed in one size, although ocassionally an edition may be released in two sizes (small and large). If two sizes are released this clearly stipulated on the certificate of authenticity. Once the edition is gone, the image will no longer be printed (except as art cards).
Dye-based Reproductions (Open Editions)
The highest quality dye-based inks are used to individual print reproductions from original paintings. The dyes we use have an extremely wide colour “gamut” and produce a stunning range of color and saturation. We use high quality matte paper that has an ultra smooth surface and is very bright. The combination of dye and paper we use produces art that is second to none in presentation. Our prints are not offset reproductions. We print and inspect each reproduction individually. We use this process to produce all our art cards and “reproduction” prints. Open edition prints are signed and labeled by Nathalie.
Limited Edition Pigmented Ink Giclées
In the tradition of high quality printmaking we offer limited edition prints of some of Nathalie’s most popular past works, as well as some of her new work. We use wide-gamut fully pigmented (carbon-based) inks in conjunction with 100 percent acid-free cotton rag paper to produce prints of the highest quality and permanence. Third party testing, most notably Wilhelm Research, have determined that fully pigmented inks on acid-free paper are estimated to last 50-100 years without noticeable fade (when properly framed and not in direct light).
Limited edition prints are signed (full signature), numbered, corner mounted to acid-free foam core, accompanied with a certificate, and delivered in a protective acid-free clear envelope.
Images we choose for limited editions are not available as digital print “reproductions”, although we do reserve the right to make art cards.
Certificate of Authenticity
We will also include a “Certificate of Authenticity” with each limited edition print. This certificate will detail:
1. The number in the edition of the print.
2. The materials used to produce the print.
3. Explain the “archival nature” of the print.
4. Signed by the Artist.
The primary purpose if the certificate is to authenticate and distinguish giclée from a common digital reproduction. It is the artist’s promise to the purchaser.
